UCR 008 Charecteristics

"Charter of James VI of Scotland, dated January 7, 1590/1 : confirming to James Sandelandis all his lands and the barony of Pitlair in Fife" (UCR Special Collections).

Careful attention paid to the beginning of the manuscript to this first letter "S".  Look closely at the examples of the scribal hand we have here online.   Do the the scribal hands match?  Can we discern whether or not John Arnott had worked on more than one of these leafs, and what would that tell us?

I wanted to be sure to give you all an experience of the hair side.  Here is one that those of us without the means of touching can easily look at and recognize.  These features were not so easy to record in audio alas, but at least I can afford us this much embodiement.

Here onecan see Pittlair and 1590 writtenclearly on the hair side.  In what ways wouldthis have beeen useful?  How can we see this as emboding the restless, folding and travelling nature of the medieval folded almanac?
